Raft Foundations

/Raft Foundations

Raft foundations are constructed using reinforced concrete that forms a structural slab that rests on the ground. The steel reinforcement within the concrete helps to prevent cracking under the load of the structure.

Technical Info

Lapped Steel: 450mm.

Depth: 150mm.

Minimum Concrete Cover: 40mm.

Benefits

Spreads the load over a wide area.

Quick to install.

Lowers contact pressure.

Minimal excavation.

Reduces differential settlement.

Process

An area of ground is excavated for the solid concrete slab to be cast.

REINFORCED MESH
High tensile mesh is laid across a large area, the mesh is fitted to the tops of micro piles to form a load bearing structure. In some cases there may not be a need for piles and the mesh would stand independently on the ground.

CONCRETE SLAB
Concrete is cast with the beams in-situ to form a solid concrete slab ready for construction.
